BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT: A TASTE OF SECRETS
Two Cultures, One Plate — Jamaica Meets Puerto Rico Inside the Municipal Market
By Noah Sanders, The BeltLine News — October 23, 2026
Every kitchen has a secret. At A Taste of Secrets, the secret is the whole point.
The stall — A.T.O.S for short — sits inside the historic Municipal Market at 209 Edgewood Avenue SE, the Sweet Auburn landmark Atlanta knows as the Curb Market. Behind the counter are Chef Mish and Chef Niddy, first-time entrepreneurs cooking the food of two families: one Jamaican, one Puerto Rican. Their promise, in their own words, is simple — "Two cultures. One plate. Where Jamaican flavor meets Puerto Rican soul."
The Food
This is Caribbean fusion built on family tradition, and the menu doesn't play it safe:
• Oxtail Empanadas — handcrafted and filled with their secret blend of Caribbean spices; the oxtail version has become a signature all its own
• Secrets Cream Pasta topped with Scotch Bonnet Honey Hot Glazed Salmon & Shrimp — sweet heat over rich cream pasta
• Scotch Bonnet Honey Hot Chopped Cheese — the New York bodega classic, rebuilt the A.T.O.S. way
• Scotch Bonnet Honey Hot Wings — "sweet enough to keep you coming back, hot enough to make you respect it," as they put it
• Rican Bowls, Glazed Wedges, and Secrets Glazed Corn on the Cob
• House-made drinks, including the Leo Lemonade and the Capricorn Sun
The through-line is that Scotch Bonnet honey-hot glaze — Jamaican heat, kissed with sweetness — and Atlanta has noticed. Food creators are posting the counter's plates across the city, one Jamaican beef patty reviewer calling it some of the best fusion he has ever had, and the stall's own page has a running theme no new restaurant takes for granted: sold-out days.
"What started as a dream is growing into a legacy," the owners posted after one of those sellouts. "We stepped out on faith, and y'all continue to remind us why we did."
Built on Faith — and a Build-Out
A Taste of Secrets is a Black women-owned business, and it did not arrive at the Curb Market by accident. The chefs completed the build-out of their stall with assistance from Invest Atlanta's Vendor Success Program, the city's small-business support arm — and A.T.O.S arrived as one of four new minority-owned eateries opening inside the historic market.
They've wasted no time becoming part of the building's story, joining fellow merchants to help bring a community mural to life inside the market — a small part, in their words, of "the continued story of this historic Atlanta landmark."
The stall also caters — it has already closed on a Saturday to cook for a private event — so the secret is available for your event, too.
Go Hungry. Go Early.
A word of advice from the BeltLine News: the sold-out posts are real, and the line forms for a reason. Find them inside the Municipal Market on Edgewood, under the same roof as Auntie Vee's Kitchen, our Business Spotlight from earlier this week — two counters, two Caribbean-soul stories, one historic hall.
A Taste of Secrets' own motto says it best: where every bite tells a secret.
